The creative/advertising/graphic/architecture/interior design industry is dominated by men, especially at the top. Go through any industry or award show panel and you'll see profile pictures of men. The Lab, other hand, is dominated by women. 80% of our staff are women. 2 out of 3 directors, women.

Today, we'll introduce a few women at The Lab and they contributed to our work and life. We hope to inspire peer companies to promote women to leadership roles and women themselves to create their own opportunities.

100 male construction workers. And lab women.

In 2018, we collaborated with AIA Life Insurance to design a financial lounge in Landmark 81, then tallest building in Southeast Asia.

It was an important project for us. The Lab oversaw Design Strategy, Branding, Interior Architecture, Author Supervision. The Lab Concept, our sister hospitality company, operates the cafe and cocktail bar inside the lounge.

The design stage was all fun and games, but the execution was plagued by one surprise after another.

Ideas, meet reality.

Ideas, meet reality.

We had this idea to pay homage to the humble rice field on the ceiling. The water reflection is created from warped metal sheets and the rice from dried wheat.

The contractors thought it was impossible because:

The clients (who liked the idea but were concerned about execution) and contractors asked us to change the idea. We politely said no and went to work.
